The eastbound Toledo Hauler on the Portland & Western Railroad (PNWR) on the trestle at Albany Oregon, USA on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 1:05 pm. The train was led by PNWR 3006, 2306, 3002, 102, 101, 3001.

Trip to Oregon

My road trip to Oregon in August 2017. This trip went to Prineville to see the total solar eclipse. After that I drove to Portland, via the Columbia Gorge. I spent a day in Portland then drove to Albany. After spending time in Albany chasing trains with Vic Neves, I drove home.

On my way north I stopped at Redding. I shot a few trains there and spent the night in a Motel 6 in Redding.
Redding, CA to Prineville, OR - August 18, 2017, Friday
After leaving Redding at 5:30 am I headed north towards Oregon with my destination being Prineville, OR. I shot a few trains along the way.
Prineville, OR to Hood River OR - August 21, 2017, Monday
After leaving Prineville, after the eclipse, I headed north, in very heavy traffic! My destination was the Columbia River Gorge.
Columbia River Gorge, OR - August 22, 2017, Tuesday
I spent Monday night camping in Memaloose State Park Campground near Mosier, Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge. Tuesday I spent the day doing some super mellow foaming on the UP side of the Columbia River Gorge. This was a semi rest day as I spent the day reading and relaxing between trains. One of my favorite ways to railfan! Unknown to me then, is that later in this summer a lot of the area I was photographing in would burn. That evening I went to a friend's house in Portland.
Vancouver, WA and Albany, Oregon west - August 24, 2017, Thursday
In the morning, on this day, I left my friend's house in Portland and spent the early hours in Vancouver, WA. After about 1 pm I left and drove to Albany where I met Vic Neves. He and I chased the Toledo Hauler on this day from Albany, Oregon west.
