Steve Sloan's Trains : Trip Notes : 1975 : March 26, 1975

On this day I was in Roseville, CA.

Roseville Area

East Valley Line

SP 3198 EMD GP40P-2, SP Class EP430-1

SP 3198 in Roseville
Southern Pacific's entire roster of GP40P-2s on the point of a train near the Sierra View Country Club Golf Course in Roseville, CA on March 26, 1975. About these photos WAF said, "3197-99 were purchased to complete the retirement of the Trainmasters on the commute runs. To stay out of California taxing in the 70s, these locomotives were used frequenly on interstate moves between LA and Portland on the Starpacers and back to LA on the BRLAT for the first six months of use."
He said, "First photo appears to be power for 1/376 (1/LABRT). A few loads of GM autos and lumber boxcars carrying freight forwarder traffic for Superior Fast Freight plus pigs make up the train. A second section will follow later in the afternoon and pickup PNW at the Roseville ramp." Sierra View Roseville Photo Location.

NOTE: If anything is my "life's work" it's my train photos. — If you scan an analog photo of mine, or if you share a digital photo I took that does not have my photo credit, add something like "Photo by Steve Sloan" directly onto the image. It's not enough to say "Photo by Steve Sloan" in the text caption. People download photos off the Internet/Social Media platform and whatever is in the text does not stick to the photo. Then, they get reshared and that data is lost. I deserve credit for my work.

You may not use my photos for profit and/or as part of, or to sell, a product or service without my consent.
